Appalachia Day 3- Monday

Day 3: Monday - our mission today was to start off VBS with a kick - and we did it! Morning began with breakfast in the cafeteria (for those who could stand to peel their weary bodies out of bed), and on the road at 7.30 am. VBS began at 9.00 am, with an attendance of 60 children! These kids range in age from 3-18. The Lord blessed this day and meeting in that everything went smoothly and according to plan. Whoever is reading this blog, I want you to know this - this is the best that I have seen our White Oak youth missionaries perform. They hopped right in and acted like they belonged there - it is refreshing to see them relish this opportunity to minister to spiritual needs.
We got back to the campus about 2.30 pm - some headed to bed for naps, others out to play ball, and others to play video games. It was nice to have the afternoon to ourselves to rest and mentally collect ourselves.
Evening worship tonight was from Hebrews 2, and the topic was that Jesus draws near to us in every way that we need Him to. John Cook, pastor of Thomson ARP, did a great job delivering the message. After the meeting, our teams met and prayed for each other and for the week.
Now, it is 10.45 pm - some are playing video games, some are resting, and some are heading to the gas station to get refreshments. Please pray that we will get good rest - it is only Monday, and some of us are already dragging!
The pics above show you a little bit of our daily life here - hanging out before VBS starts ... opening ceremonies ... teaching ... the ride home ... hanging out ... and worship. Hope you enjoy!
