Appalachia Day 6 - Thursday
We woke up to a rainshower, and it did not stop raining until we pulled back onto the campus at 4.00 pm! Alternating between steady showers and downpours, the day was just cloudy and rainy for us. Thankfully, in God's grace, this did not hamper the ministry today. The kids show up, and our youth love them, teach them and show them Jesus in every possible way.
As we are nearing the end of this trip, it is interesting to take survey of the youth. What I have noticed this week is how easily these youth shed the worries of the world, let down their facades of coolness and cares of peer pressure - and spend the week being who they really are. No worries about anything else, and this translates into a group of youth who are very comfortable in being their selves with each other, no matter how goofy or awkward it may be. If only that would translate into their lives away from Appalachia - that understanding that true Christian fellowship allows you to be who you really are, because you are the creation of the living God.
James Thompson stood in front of 483 people tonight and gave a report on the work we are doing in Rose Hill. Then, James Thompson got in front of 483 and led them in dancing! We do have video of this, and will be sharing it liberally.
Please enjoy the pics below, and we look forward to seeing our family and friends very soon!
