Appalachia Day 7 - Friday
Today was the last day of VBS and, "officially", of the Appalachia trip. It was a great day to end on - bright sunshine, warm temperatures, and a good mood all around. We didn't do anything different or special for the kids for the end of the week - we did what we came up here to do, and that was to teach them all about this wonderful Savior whose arms are always open to those who call to Him. One of the older girls came this morning, and went to one of the girls who was teaching from First ARP, and told her she was ready to come to Christ. That alone makes the months of preparation, several fund raisers and service projects, and a long and exhausting week all worth it.
During the week, I make sure to talk to as many youth as I could about the week. The one thing I heard from all of the youth was that this was the best week and VBS at Appalachia that they had experiences. I reminded them that this was due to all the prayers of our family at White Oak. Thank you for your work in this ministry during this week - I am confident that this week would not have turned out as great if it were not for your prayers.
We had abused children, neglected children, deplorable living conditions, a post-grad Hindu student and many others this week - and to think that Isaiah 55.11 is at work in all of these conditions is an amazing and comforting truth. We leave this week with the utmost confidence that God is always at work wherever His word is present. Amen.
With this being the last day, there were a lot of festivities to be had! Let me quickly sum up this last day - back to campus in time for dinner, volleyball, guitar hero, wrestling, worship, water ballon fight, smearing cake in face, Sonic, and passing out hard for the bus ride home! It was a great way to end up the week - and as we were leaving Sonic, we said our goodbyes to FARP, and it was truly bittersweet. I know relationships were built that will last an eternity. Yet another beautiful truth to come out of this week.
Here are some pics below - we look forward to getting home and sharing more with you!
